I compared this with the original factory LED option and I'm very glad I got this one. The high CRI emitter is great to use.
I had a cheap 18650 light stop working on me, so was in the market for an upgrade. I wanted a general purpose "around the house" light to keep on my nightstand, as well as something I could take to worksites from time to time for general purpose use. Ended up settling on the SST-20 version of this and am very pleased. It has a great combination of CRI, color tint, a tight beam with a far throwing hotspot, and a very even "outer beam". I often will grab a very floody headlamp for lots of close-up work, but this EC35 is an excellent companion and "general purpose" flashlight. Plus it's simple enough to use that I don't have to give a bunch of instructions when handing it to someone. Also Killzone service was fantastic- I had an issue getting the light to turn on initially, but they quickly responded and recommended an extra tightening of the tail cap, which sure enough fixed the issue. Will be returning for future light & battery needs!
I wanted to get my Dad a light for Christmas, I wanted to have good features but not overly complicated UI.
This light is very well constructed, is exceedingly bright, has a long throw, and is rechargeable. The beam profile is somewhat narrow with a bright spot in the center, personally I like floody lights more but this is an excellent example of a thrower.
This light is like a Toyota Camry. Does everything you want, not much more. Built to last. Solid. If you only want to buy one nice flashlight, this is a great choice.
Great throw and battery life but I wish it had a wider field of bright light. Since it is not adjustable field, it is hard to use for broad general lighting. Still getting used to the switches but I think I will like it since there is no need to cycle through the low, med, high, strobe like so many other models. I tend to use the side switch for medium light for general use and nice to be able to hit tail switch for full strength. I second the concern over the charging port cover. It has repeatedly caught on pocket or holster, it won't last long.
Killzone has a reputation for excellent customer service and product support. My experience backs that up - they sent me personal emails that were quick and helpful. Order your flashlights from Killzone!
love this flashflight. Ordered with nichia and the color and clarity is just like daylight. Flashlight has already survived a drop with no issues and feels very tough and well made.
I am really enjoying my light. I work night shift and I have never had it fail me for duty use. I am concerned about durability though. The rubber cover for the charging port had the 'nub' (the little rubber part that sticks off the rubber cover so you can pull open the charging port) tear off when pulling the light out of the supplied belt pouch. The cover still 100% covers the charging port so I am not too worried about it.
The SST-20 version of this light is truly excellent. It provides a very well balanced beam profile that has a usable versatile hotspot, but also retains good intensity thanks to the SST-20's smaller die size. The 95 CRI, 4000K neutral beam makes everything vibrant and distinct, a little ray of sunshine in your pocket! The UI is intuitive and offers great versatility while not being too heavy or clunky.
This light is great for new users, experienced users, anyone looking for a good EDC or even a back porch light with convenient USB charging.
